| Years ago, I
studied with an energy healer by the name of
Mearah Marqua. I went to
her desperate for help because nothing else was working. I was in my
late 20's or early 30's and I was deep in the pain of watching my
dream of sharing my music with the world slip away... Self help
books hadn't really helped, psychotherapy hadn't really helped...so
I was open to the idea that the hopelessness and negative energy
that I was "stuck" in could be "healed."
So I made an appointment to see
her... It was strange but I felt completely exposed when see looked
at me. And then she told me things that nobody else could have
known. Whoa! It still gives me chills.
She put her hands on me and I
felt this strange sensation of energy flowing throughout my
body...THEN she raised her hands a few inches off my
body and I still felt it...at one point I distinctly felt her near
my head...I opened my eyes to peak and was surprised to find that
she was down at my feet!
I continued to work with her
for something like 5 years and in that time my life changed
drastically...when I started I owned an title insurance agency that
I'd grown to hate. I owned 4 houses, 3 cars...you know the
story...by the time I stopped working with her I was living in a
small two bedroom apartment with my wife and three kids and I was
making a living performing in elementary schools and summer camps
with my DrumSongStory
programs. Some folks would look at that and see a "disaster" I'd
lost all this material "stuff" but I was finally on the right track
and doing something a lot closer to what I was born to do.
The specific point of this
story beore I move on to other subjects is this: There were times
when I had released some deep, painful stuff and I desperately
needed to make an appointment with Mearah. She was pretty busy
though and often I would end up leaving a message on her answering
machine. Without exception every time I left a message on her
machine I felt better within the hour. And she often didn't get back
to me in person for several days.
So the question is: did Mearah
somehow "heal" me? Or was it my act of reaching out for help that
engaged my own healing power? Later on when I discovered NLP I
learned about the power of "anchors" and how the internal
representation we associate with a person, place, sound, or touch
can instantly "reset" our physiology and energy...but that's a story
for another day.
So again this week, as I will
probably mention most weeks, there is power in our thoughts and in
how we use them. The mind and the body are intricately linked in
ways that we arrogant Westerners are just starting to "get."
What would your life look like
if you were able to focus your energy like a laser to heal the
aspects of your life that need your attention? It's never too late.
And miracles happen every single day. Believe it or not.
