| Ah! My Wonderful
Modern Jedi Mind Masters,
Your mind is a powerful thing
isn't it?
If the act of observing yeast
in a Petri dish can affect the rate of growth as the Russian
scientists mentioned above discovered, what does it mean to you and
me?
I also want to add to the mix
that numerous experiments in Quantum Physics have demonstrated
similar results. For example, if scientists are observing light, it
shows up as a wave or as a particle depending on what the
experimenters expect to see.
I also read recently about an
experiment by American scientists who were able to measure the
affect of prayer on the growth of cancer cells.
So if our thoughts can have
such an effect on experiments, what effect can our thoughts have
on...us?
Let's find out. Would you be
willing to do an experiment with me?
Step One:
Take a day, any day. Spend the whole day beating up on yourself and
telling yourself how lousy you are. Ask yourself negative and self
limiting questions like "Why am I such a loser?..." Expect the
worse. See pointlessness and hopelessness everywhere you look. And
then no matter what happens (even if something good happens)
interpret it as a sign that more bad stuff is coming. Keep
meticulous notes. And by the end of the day notice how you feel.
Step Two:
Take another day. Spend the whole day being kind to yourself and
telling yourself how awesome you are. Thanking your body for all the
amazing, little things it does. Celebrate the fact that you can
breathe and even use the bathroom! Ask empowering why and how
questions like "Why does it work out better than I can possibly
imagine?" Expect the best. See hope and purpose everywhere you look.
And then, no matter what happens (even if something not so good
happens) interpret it as a sign that more good stuff is on the way.
Keep meticulous notes. And by the end of the day notice how you
feel.
By the way, feel free to
skip Step One. In fact I insist you skip step one. Why?
Because...
a. If you're like most of us
you're already doing step one to some extent.
b. because thoughts are things,
and because of this known law, it's too damn dangerous.
So just do step two and send
me the results.
Putting my money where my mouth
is, here's a sample of me doing step two right now:
"Wow, I wrote a pretty good
newsletter this morning in an amazingly short time! Hey, this is
cool, I ate breakfast this morning and my body right now is
perfectly digesting my food! Hey I have a warm place to live! Hey, I
have a cool thing called a laptop computer to write this on. Wow! I
just took a breath and it felt good! Oh! I just looked out the
window. Isn't having eyesight a cool thing? Isn't having windows a
cool thing? Why DOES it work out better than I can possibly imagine?
Ooops! I better finish this up because I have a client coming and
I'm still in my pajamas! Wow I have clients! Wow, I get to do some
of my "work" from home in my pajamas! Cool! Oh and even better, I
have a shower to wash my body in and it's inside my house! Even
better, it has this amazing feature called HOT WATER!..."
Why do you have the most
amazing week you can imagine?!?!
With love and wonder,
Mark
