NLP Technique of the Week

 
The Power of NLP Anchoring  

Another one of the major tools of Neuro Linguistic Programming is a process or technique known as Anchoring. Think for a moment about Ivan Pavlov and his dogs. (Wooof!)

Pavlov would show his dogs a steak and ring a tuning fork.

Within a short period of time the dogs connected the sound of the tuning fork with the sight of the steak and they would start to salivate instantly upon hearing it. No steak needed to be present after the idea of steak was physiologically "anchored" into the dogs neurology with the specific sound.

There are all sorts of Anchors corresponding with our 5 senses:

• Visual anchors (think of stop signs, the sight of your loved ones, certain visual things you find attractive in the opposite sex)

• Auditory anchors (think of your favorite song, or a fire siren, a sexy voice, an annoying voice)

• Olfactory anchors (think of the SMELL of chocolate chip cookies or fresh bread, or the scent of Spring after a warm rain)

• Gustatory (think of the TASTE of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies or fresh bread)

• Kinesthetic (think of the TOUCH of a certain person or the soft fur of a kitten or a puppy)

The point of anchoring is you don't have to stop and think abouut what to do ro how to react. It's like your body is hardwired to be preprogrammed to respond to certain external stimuli.

Now what I don't have time to cover in this newsletter is exactly how we use our knowledge of anchoring to "collapse" negative anchors and to "install" empowering, powerful motivational anchors. Suffice it to say that we can use anchoring techniques to overcome procrastination, stop cravings for cigarettes and junk food, and get all charged up and automatically into the state of "flow."

What's new this week?

• Yikes! I finished the Modern Jedi Music Video which you hopefully have watched by now. What you may not know is that I also uploaded the video to about 40 video directories in addition to YouTube. • I recorded a new song inspired by the book, "Women Who Run With the Wolves" which I sent you an e-mail about the other day. If you didn't get a chance to hear it or if you want to hear it again click here: She Does Not Need You
   
• If you remember from last Fall I was teasing you all with "THE BIG THING" well the cat's out of the bag a little bit as I have been talking about this 12 year old girl, and signing phenom named Rilee O'Neill and the musical I've been writing songs for called "Letters To Daddy." That was and still is the big thing. But there are some new twists...
  
  Former ESPN producer Bill Rodman is the creative and motivational force behind the project and he's a dynamo! Through his ability to connect with people he met a woman named Ginny Dye who has created an incredible project of building orphanages in Uganda...Well to make a long story short, he asked me to write YET ANOTHER SONG! it's called Together We Can Change The World. I just finished my vocals on it yesterday Rilee did hers last week. So a 47 year old man and a 12 year old girl are singing a duet. Now. In two weeks a choir of orphans from Uganda arrives here in the USA, We'll be adding their parts and releasing the song as part of a documentary that is being filmed....Stay tuned, I am hoping to get the go ahead from Bill so you can experience this song in next week's News Letter.
  
  Bill is also talking now about taking this musical to Broadway...Usually if Bill says he's gonna do something he does it...
  
  Please fasten your seatbelts....hmmm I just thought of who I'm going to interview for my next free teleseminar on April 1st....Maybe Bill Rodman will agree to be interviewed.
